Fiumicino Airport to Rome City Centre: All the Options.
Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport is about 32 km from central Rome. You have three options: the train, the flat-rate taxi and a private door-to-door transfer. Here are the real prices, journey times and who each option suits best. Updated July 2026.
Fiumicino → central Rome: the comparison
| Option | Price | Time | Where it takes you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leonardo Express | €14 per person | 32 min | Termini station only |
| FL1 regional train | €8 per person | ~48 min | Trastevere and Tiburtina, not Termini |
| Taxi (flat rate) | €55 per ride | 45-60 min | Inside the Aurelian Walls |
| Private transfer | fixed price per car | 40-50 min | Door to door, anywhere |
By train: Leonardo Express and FL1
The Leonardo Express runs every 15-30 minutes and reaches Termini in 32 minutes, at €14 per person. If your hotel is not near Termini, though, you still need a taxi or the metro with your luggage. The FL1 regional costs €8 but only stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina.
By taxi: the €55 flat rate
Rome taxis charge a flat €55 from Fiumicino to any address inside the Aurelian Walls, luggage included. Outside the walls the meter applies. On arrival you need to find the official taxi rank, and at peak times the queue can get long.
By private transfer: door to door
With a private transfer your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign, tracks your flight and takes you to any address, inside or outside the walls (licensed NCC cars may enter the ZTL restricted zone), at a fixed price per car. For 3-4 people with luggage the cost per person is close to a taxi, with twice the comfort.

The Leonardo Express does not run in the middle of the night, and with children or lots of luggage every change hurts. A private transfer works on booking at any hour, with child seats on request. And if you are landing at Fiumicino for a cruise, we connect the airport directly to Civitavecchia port.
Fiumicino → Civitavecchia transferHow much is a taxi from Fiumicino to Rome?
The flat rate is €55 per ride, valid from Fiumicino to any destination inside the Aurelian Walls (the historic centre), for up to 4 passengers with luggage included. For destinations outside the walls the meter applies. Our private transfer has a fixed per-car price locked in advance: you are met with a name sign and there is no queue.
Trains from Fiumicino: timetables and limits
The Leonardo Express links the airport to Roma Termini from early morning until around midnight, every 15-30 minutes. The FL1 regional serves Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina but not Termini. Either way you arrive at a station, not at your hotel: budget for the last stretch with your luggage. In the small hours you are left with limited night buses, a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
